I've been out of sorts lately with the setting up my studio on our back screened in porch. Before I was set up in a corner of our uninsulated shop. In the summer it was hot, and in the winters it was cold. Wind blowing through was also an issue since it dried out the clay too quickly. My husband Scott had the wonderful idea to make the back porch my future studio. There is electricity, water, and space. I was excited to move into my new studio, but didn't realize there was going to be some down time due to building and not having everything set up. We had to close in two sides. That meant siding on the outside, insulation, and sheet rock on the inside. There was mess upon mess, and clean up after clean up. We have walls now, but were two pieces of sheet rock short. We've got it now, and should finish the sheet rock this week end hopefully. I've found it's kind of hard to make pottery in the midst of the mess. There are other things going on in the studio as well such as seed starting area, firewood storage, and a freezer. Looking forward to those being moved out soon.
I have set up my new Clay Boss pottery wheel, and got some Hydro-bats to throw on. I have thrown several mugs, and bowls. I am planning to try what is called the Peacock technique on some. I want to try some new glaze combos as well. I'm also going to be shooting another photo shoot of all my pottery. I just haven't been really happy with my pottery photos. They are okay, but not great. Looking forward to my birthday this month as well. Thank you Lord for another year.
